The famous School of Oenology in Conegliano also has a significant role to play. It makes up one of the most important centres for education and research in the Italian wine sector. Founded in 1876, it is one of the oldest agricultural colleges in Europe, and its main focus in on Viticulture and Oenological Sciences.

Every June, a special chess game where the pieces are represented by actual real people—known as the Dama Castellana—is performed in the historical centre. Here the ancient battles among knights that challenge to a duel for damsels and manor-houses are brought back to life.
In September, the Grape Festival “Festa dell’uva” celebrated at the end of September with a great wine tasting banquet in via XX Settembre; On Epiphany’s Eve, 5th January, an ancient pagan ritual called "Panevin" take place. It consist in a traditional bonfire that symbolize the end of the old year, of the winter and, symbolically, of its miseries and misfortunes.

Start the visit to the historic centre of town in Via XX Settembre, with the portico of the Scuola dei Battuti, which forms the façade of the Duomo. The Duomo itself is of XIV-century origin and houses numerous works of art, including canvases by two of the Veneto's most famous artists, Palma the Younger and Cima da Conegliano. Next to the cathedral is the Scuola della Confraternita di Santa Maria dei Battuti, frescoed in the XVI century.
The old castle in Conegliano dates back to the X century and has been rebuilt many times.
